Can I get advice on how to lay artificial grass?
Absolutely.
In a nutshell, measure the area where you want to lay the artificial grass and prepare the surface. Remove any debris or rocks, and ensure the surface is smooth and level. Install a weed barrier over the area, followed by a layer of base material such as crushed stone or gravel for good drainage. Next, install edging around the perimeter to hold the artificial grass in place. Cut the artificial grass to fit the area and lay it out over the base material, ensuring to install artificial grass underlay. Be sure to cut the edges neatly and overlap any seams by at least 2–3 inches. Finally, secure the artificial grass using landscaping fixing nails or adhesive and add infill material if necessary.

What sand infill do I need for artificial grass?
However, it’s not essential and some people prefer not to use it. If you do decide to use sand infill, we recommend using kiln-dried (silica) sand. This type of sand is ideal for artificial grass as it is free from organic matter and will not damage the turf.
Can artificial grass be laid on soil?
Can artificial grass be laid on concrete?
Yes, artificial grass can be laid on concrete. However, you will need to make sure that the concrete is level and without any cracks. You will also need to add a layer of base material such as crushed stone or gravel, as well as a weed membrane, before laying the artificial grass. This will provide good drainage, prevent weeds from growing and make the grass feel more realistic.

Can artificial grass be laid on sloped surfaces?
Can artificial grass be laid on decking?
It’s important to use adhesive to secure the artificial grass to the decking to prevent it from shifting or lifting. Additionally, if the decking will be used for high-impact activities, like a play area for children, consider adding a shockpad underlay. Following these guidelines will ensure a successful installation of artificial grass on decking, creating an attractive and low-maintenance outdoor space.
Whilst it is possible to lay artificial grass on decking, taking the time to prepare the surface and choose the right materials is key to achieving a long-lasting and visually appealing result.

We are thinking of laying artificial grass at our sports facility, is your artificial grass suitable for playing fields?
Yes, our artificial grass is suitable for sports facilities and playing fields. Our range of artificial turf is designed to be durable, hard-wearing and realistic. Some examples of uses at sports facilities in the UK include; football pitches, hockey pitches, rugby pitches and cricket pitches. Using drainbase for your artificial playing field will also help to decrease the chances of flooding on game day.
Is it possible to recycle your artificial turf?
Yes, it is possible to recycle artificial turf. Artificial turf is made from a variety of materials, including plastic, rubber, and other synthetic fibres. These materials can be recycled, and many companies now offer recycling services for used artificial turf.
The recycling process typically involves separating the different components of the turf, such as the plastic fibres and the rubber infill. These materials can then be repurposed for other uses, such as creating new products or building materials. In some cases, the turf itself can be recycled and used to create new artificial turf.
Recycling your artificial turf is a great way to reduce waste and minimize your environmental impact. It’s also a cost-effective way to dispose of your old turf, as many recycling services offer free or low-cost disposal options. If you’re interested in recycling your artificial turf, be sure to check with local recycling facilities to see if they offer recycling services in your area. In order to minimise wastage, we also offer artificial grass offcuts.
